The production date of this bowl is estimated to be during the Japanese colonial period, and it was made in the Lin Zhenxing kiln in Hsinchu. The material used is brick pottery and it was formed by hand-pulling. It has a wide mouth and folded edges, with the “Lin Zhenxing” mark pressed on the body, making it highly recognizable. The founder of the Lin Zhenxing kiln was Lin Jingzhen, and the kiln was located in Xianshui Village, Hsinchu. It mainly produced household pottery such as water jars and stopped production in 1972. Early on, Hsinchu was known for producing clay, and famous kilns such as Lin Zhenxing and Jin Liancheng specialized in making household pottery, but most of them have now closed down.
