Zhangzhou ware ceramics were traded at the Age of Exploration during the 16th-17th century. Taiwan was an important trading port for the Dutch, Span, Japan, China etc. during the early 17th century, with major trading items including spices, tea, silk, and ceramic vessels. The Zheng Cheng Gong family was a major trading group for the ceramics, which were mainly traded through Taiwan from Zhangzhou’s Yuegang. In recent years, many trade ceramics have been unearthed in Penghu and Tainan, indicating Taiwan’s importance in international trade at the time.
