Yi Lan Wa – Small Bowl

This bowl is decorated using a motif based on the Taiwanese characters for “Safety and Prosperity“ that were emblazoned on the city gates of Yilan City two hundred years ago. The bowl was made using tradional Taiwanese ceramics techniques: a master ceramist used a partially handmade production process with in-glaze decoration painted on by hand, and making use of black clay from the Lanyang River. The design symbolizes nature’s gifts of safety and prosperity.
